Family Practice

After college and 6 years working in a family Home Furnishing Business and with a wife and 2 children, Dr. William Carriere made a major career change. He embarked on a career in medicine. He graduated with honors and special recognition for service to the community and from Tulane Medical School and did his residency in family practice at the University of Florida in Jacksonville.

During medical school Dr. Carriere became interested in the treatment of alcohol and drug addictions. He pursued this interest as a part of his medical practice and became the medical director of one of the first accredited alcoholism treatment programs in Florida; subsequently he led the effort to develop 3 freestanding addiction treatment hospitals in Florida.

His early family business experience combined with a passion for family medicine gave him a rather unique perception of the healthcare industry. He began practice in 1975, and has built a solo practice into a 45 provider, 8 location primary care group. Family Care Partners has recently won a national award for implementation and utilization of their comprehensive HER and is recognized locally as the leader in providing high quality, cost effective primary care.

Dr. Carriere's vision and his recognition of the value and potential of electronic patient care data and collaboration between stakeholders in the improvement of the quality and efficiency in patient care has lead to a leadership role in the development of Healthcare efficiencies such as NEFRHO (the North East Florida Regional Health Organization).
