Sylvia completed her basic nursing program at Los Angeles County/USC Medical Center School of Nursing in 1990, received her Bachelor's of Nursing from Regents College in New York in 1994 and her Masters in Nursing in 2002. She completed her degree as a Family Nurse Practitioner with a minor in Community Health at the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs. She joined Family Care Partners in 2004.

Sylvia is a member of AANP (American Academy of Nurse Practitioners); FNPN (Florida Nurse Practitioner Network); and is a Nationally Certified Family Nurse Practitioner. She has also taught graduate and undergraduate nursing and nurse practitioner programs as well as precepting nurse practitioner students.

Sylvia sees patients of all ages, beginning at birth, and enjoys taking care of the entire family. In her free time, Sylvia enjoys staying physically active and enjoys spending time with her family and friends.

Education is also very important to Sylvia. She believes everyone should understand their own body and how to take care of it. She thinks that communication between patients and providers is crucial and believes all patients should be informed and involved in their healthcare.
