It is life's little rewards that are important to Bonifacio Gabertan, M.D. in his pediatric practice: making a sick child smile, and gaining the trust and confidence of a parent.
A native of the Philippines, Dr. Gabertan decided as a child that he wanted to be a doctor. "I watched my mother as she lay in her sickbed, and wished that I could help her," he said. "It was then that my career plans were formed."
During his medical training in the Philippines and in the U.S., Dr. Gabertan found that his work with infants and children was the most challenging and rewarding. In 1966-70 he performed his pediatric residency at the University of Florida. A teaching fellowship brought him to St. Vincent's Hospital in Jacksonville in 1970. Dr. Gabertan has practiced pediatric medicine in private and group practices since 1972, and joined the Family Care Center of Arlington in 1995.

Dr. Gabertan is married and has two grown children. Away from the office, he is a serious student of the Bible, and lives its message of peace and love.
