Alpa Patel, M.D., feels a "constant need" to interact with and help other people. Volunteering at a local hospital during college exposed her to medical careers in which she could satisfy that need every day.

Born in London, Dr. Patel has lived in Florida for more than 20 years. She earned her Bachelor of Science summa cum laude from University of Central Florida in 1994, then received her medical degree from University of Florida. She trained in Internal Medicine at Shands Jacksonville, and began practice at the Family Care Center of Arlington in 2001. She is Board certified in Internal Medicine, and says her field "allows me to practice a wide range of medicine in many subspecialties."

Dr. Patel has been active in numerous community volunteer efforts, including Habitat for Humanity, migrant and homeless health clinics, AIDS awareness education, and a health issues telethon. When away from the office, she enjoys traveling, watching movies and sports, and spending time with her family. Dr. Patel strives to provide ample time for questions and discussion with her patients. She also provides many services at the office including Cardiac Stress Test, Holter Monitor, and Doppler of legs. She is the Chairman of the Family Care Partners Quality Committee and spends some outside time involved in research involving clinical trials for upcoming new medications.
